What fresh product do you need?

Choose a starting brief below. These are sourcing-enquiry examples, not confirmed stock, origin or availability.

Start with the variety or commercial type, maturity at dispatch and the condition required at delivery.

  • Variety or commercial type, intended use and preferred class or buyer grade.
  • Finger or cluster format, size or count method, maturity and colour-stage requirement.

  • Product, variety, intended use, size, maturity and appearance criteria.
  • Pack style, net weight, count, labelling and pallet requirements.
  • Required harvest, pre-cooling, storage or transport conditions where relevant.
  • Quantity, destination, delivery timing and the documents your team needs to review.

Plan for condition at delivery

Define the product and the journey.

A produce specification should cover the item, pack, handling conditions and delivery window together.

  • Name the product, variety or commercial type and intended use. State how size, maturity, colour and visible defects will be assessed.
  • Give the pack format, net weight or count, labelling and pallet requirements. Separate quantities by product and pack.
  • Describe the condition required at dispatch and delivery, including any temperature, ventilation, ripening or shelf-life expectations set by your team.
  • Add the destination, delivery point and target window. Ask logistics and destination specialists to confirm the route and applicable import requirements.
  • Request evidence for the actual offered lot and source before relying on residue, treatment, certification or other compliance claims. None is assumed across this catalogue.

Use the product specification checklist and sample evaluation guide to keep acceptance criteria consistent.

Fresh-produce questions

Before confirming a shipment.

Can I enquire about fresh-produce imports as well as exports?

Yes. Include the product, preferred origin if any, destination, quantity and delivery conditions. Feasibility, source, product information and commercial terms must be assessed for the individual requirement.

Is a grade name enough for a produce order?

No. Explain the variety, size or count method, maturity, tolerances, pack and delivery condition. A grade or class should be tied to the standard or buyer specification being used.

Does the catalogue confirm banana availability or origin?

No. Bananas are shown as a useful sourcing-enquiry example. Availability, origin, variety, pack, quantity, documents, route and timing require confirmation before any offer.

Useful technical reference

Use a named product standard.

The Codex Standard for Bananas (CXS 205-1997) defines a scope and quality terms for specified fresh bananas. It excludes plantains and bananas for industrial processing, and it is not an ExpoWing certification or a substitute for destination requirements.
